SERVANT OF GOD PAUL VI SPEAKS ABOUT FR. PAPCZYŃSKI

The excerpt from the letter of May 18, 1973, to Fr. Joseph Sielski, M.I.C., then the Superior General of the Congregation of Marian Fathers.

A pleasant and long-awaited cause for celebration and festive joy is now upon the Congregation, which you lead. In a short while it will be three centuries since the moment when the Servant of God, Fr. Stanislaus Papczyński providentially founded in Poland this Order, the goal of which was to spread devotion to the Immaculately Conceived Virgin Mother of God, to assist the Poor Souls in Purgatory, and to provide zealous apostolic care to people whose religious life was in great danger.

During these celebrations, you will undoubtedly look back on your past and recall those of your confreres who, by their work and virtues, contributed to the splendor and growth of your religious family, especially mentioned earlier your Founder and Teacher, as well as the Servant of God, Fr. Casimir Wyszyński who continued his plans regarding the Congregation, and finally, the Servant of God, Fr. George Matulewicz, who saved the community from an imminent death, adapted it to new conditions, and successfully enlarged it bringing in great many new members.  This man of great wisdom, whom you venerate as the Renovator of your Institute, upon the permission from the Holy See, has changed it from a strict order into a congregation with simple vows…
